Overview

Lanny Thorndike is President of Choate Investment Advisors and co-chair of Choate’s Wealth Management Practice Group. Lanny oversees the investment strategy and day-to-day operations of Choate Investment Advisors. Working closely with Choate’s wealth management team of trustees, lawyers, portfolio managers, analysts and trusts and estates administrators, Lanny helps to ensure the coordinated delivery of best-in-class integrated family office services to wealthy families – to help them grow and protect their assets across multiple generations.

Previously, Lanny spent over 18 years at Century Capital Management LLC where he served as Managing Partner and CEO, along with Chairman of the Century Funds. Lanny was a longtime portfolio manager for the Vanguard Explorer fund, as well as other institutional foundations and endowments. Prior to joining Choate, Lanny served as Managing Director of Congress Asset Management and a Portfolio Manager on the firm’s Small Cap Growth, SMid Growth, and Large Cap Growth Investment Committees. He was also a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Lanny earned his Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and received an MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is on the board of several organizations, including MassGeneral Brigham, Brigham Health and the Cotting School, the nation’s oldest school for disabled children.
